Basil growing tips

Basil is one the most versatile herbs that you can use in your home. Basil can be used to flavor dishes and add flavor to sauces, soups, pasta, and desserts. These are some helpful tips to help you grow basil indoors.

  1. It is important to choose the right location. Basil is an annual plant and will only live one season if it's not in the right place. It can tolerate partial shade but prefers full sun. If you want to grow it outside choose an area that is well-ventilated.
  2. Plant the seeds. Basil seeds must be planted at the latest two weeks before last frost. In small pots with potting mixture, sow seeds about 1/2 inch deep. The pots should be covered with clear plastic wrap. Germination usually takes about ten days. Once the pots are germinated, you can move them to a place where temperatures remain around 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
